Chapter 15 is sneaky. One plotline advances the mystery. The other is comedy that turns scary because Tuvok is not Tuvok anymore.

Chapter 13 splits the story in two. Up on Voyager, Tuvok tries to get useful information out of Neelix. Down on the desert surface, Janeway tries not to get everyone killed by the Kazon-Ogla.

So yesterday Harry Kim spent five hours in a freezing shuttlebay storage room proving the raw food was fine. Every tricorder reading green. Plenty of vitamin C in the tomato-things, beans, and sour-cane. No blockers.

Chapter 12 gives Neelix his action scene and puts Paris in a literal death trap.
Marima drags herself across the deck to sit by Paris. She looks worse. The plague is wearing her down fast. She refuses food and rests in the sun.

Chapter 7 splits the story into two moods. Up in docking bay two, Neelix and Kes wander through melted wreckage like it is a romantic afternoon. Down in sickbay, Janeway is staring at a clock that nobody on this ship can afford to ignore.

Chapter 6 is one of those moments where the book reminds you that Voyager is still a crew trying to eat dinner while a planet-killer spins in the background. Captain Janeway calls her senior officers together at 1700 hours. The tube is building power again. Tuvok and Ensign Dvorak think it fires in about an hour and ten minutes. Everyone shows up looking grim, which is fair, because they just watched a space city get wiped out.

Chapter 7 is where the away team story turns into survival horror. The title on my post file mentions Chakotay, but this chapter is mostly Trakis, Neelix, Tuvok, and Harry. Chakotay is still on Voyager in the nebula. The “prisoner” here is an alien specimen on a Kazon ship. More on that below.
Chapter one does a lot of setup, and honestly, it does it well. Voyager is desperate. Replicators are rationed. The crew has maybe a week or two of food left. Janeway stares at a new planet on the viewscreen and it looks like Earth. That hits her in a way she tries not to show on the bridge.

Chapter 5 splits the away team story wide open. Harry Kim follows a trail of cobalt blue spires across an alien grave world. Each burial site is bigger than the last. Winged humanoid skeletons lie in spirals and concentric circles. Harry is hooked. Tuvok is patient but wants comms back with Voyager.

Janeway is done with protocol. She sends Kolias packing and tells Chakotay and Tuvok to cancel all shore leave. Find Paris and Kim now. She also wants Borizus, the engineering guild head from the reception, brought up for a private talk. He looked like he had something to say before Kolias’s daughter interrupted.
Chapter 1 opens in the mess hall, and it’s pure Voyager comfort food before the weird stuff hits. Tuvok is sitting down to breakfast with Neelix, which already tells you this book is going to spend time on character moments, not just plot machinery.

If you thought Neelix would give up after Janeway set course into the Kuriyar Cluster, Chapter 3 says hello. He is waiting the second she steps back on the bridge. Captain, please reconsider. Hachai and P’nir warships could be anywhere. They have exhausted entire planets building fleets.

Chapter 1 opens on a rare quiet moment aboard Voyager. Repairs are ongoing, the crew is short-handed as always, but nobody is dying right now. Engines work. Life support works. The hydroponics bay is doing fine. Janeway is on the bridge with Neelix, studying star charts and thinking about the long trip home.
