After the childhood prologue, Day of Honor cuts hard to two different worlds. One is a peaceful alien home about to be destroyed. The other is Voyager, where B’Elanna Torres is having a perfectly normal day that is about to turn into the kind of day she dreads every year.

His mind goes straight to the time he was quarantined as a kid for Rigellian fever. His parents stayed with him the whole time. His mother even brought his clarinet. He went home after three days and she threw him a welcome home party.
The Garden by Melissa Scott (ISBN: 0671567993) keeps getting weirder. Chapter 4 opens with the away team walking the last kilometer to the Kirse citadel, and honestly? The whole place feels wrong before they even step inside.

Chapter 6 doesn’t send Voyager into Sun-Eater yet. What it does is pull back the curtain on the enemy, and honestly, that’s almost worse. Golden gives us a haunted alien warship, a kid genius doing his best work under pressure, and a parallel Akerian storyline that shows defeat doesn’t make these people less dangerous.

Chapter 4 is where The Black Shore stops feeling like a vacation brochure. Kes has a terrifying experience in the harbor. Harry Kim meets a neffaler who might be far more than the Ryol claim. Paradise keeps smiling. Something underneath is screaming.

The Kazon turn and gesture with energy, but he cannot hear them. Kes looks upward. Harry looks again and laughs. He holsters his phaser.

Captain Janeway strides onto the bridge with renewed focus. She slept another hour. That helps. Voyager is wounded. Warp is down. Impulse might be ready soon. One phaser bank works. The Kazon still orbit the planet above, but the nebula makes sensor readings fuzzy.
The Black Shore opens with Voyager drifting through one of the most boring stretches of the Delta Quadrant anyone on the ship has seen in a while. And here’s the thing: boredom on a stranded starship is not harmless. It eats at people.

Chapter 7 is where the away team story turns into survival horror. The title on my post file mentions Chakotay, but this chapter is mostly Trakis, Neelix, Tuvok, and Harry. Chakotay is still on Voyager in the nebula. The “prisoner” here is an alien specimen on a Kazon ship. More on that below.
Chapter 4 is launch day. Janeway juggling a hundred tasks while her personal life bleeds into the job.
