Magliore calls and agrees to do business for nine thousand dollars in cash. He gives Bart a careful plan: meet intermediaries at a bowling alley, then complete a transfer at a nearby tavern lot.

Afterward, Bart thinks about leaving town for good. He even calls a travel agency, hears a friendly voice, and hangs up. That tiny moment says a lot. The door out is still open, but he cannot walk through it.
