Bless the Beasts Chapter 19: Torres Secures the Ligature But Kim's Rope Snaps

Torres clutches the ligature and almost lets herself think about Chakotay smiling at her for real. She pushes the thought away. Klingon pride and all that. She calls for beam up but her tricorder starts beeping. A signal. Harry and Paris maybe. She cancels the beam.

She sets the ligature down carefully and has Voyager beam just the part up. Then she runs toward the waterfront chasing the signal.

She boards a ship yelling for Harry and Tom. The tricorder points out to sea now. Chakotay is on comms ordering her back. She ignores him until the transporter starts to grab her. She realizes the signal means they are out on the water.

She materializes on the pad. Chakotay is pissed. This is not the Maquis. She says she got the ligature and she has a lead on the guys. He softens a little when she shares what she learned about Borizus.

On the boat Kim is up in the air. The glider catches the wind and he starts to enjoy it. He spots land but it is not Vandorra. Maybe Micaszia. He signals to be reeled in.

The rope pings and snaps. Kim cartwheels away from the ship and drops toward the red sea.

Meanwhile on Voyager Torres tells Chakotay what happened down there. He smiles for real when she says she can help locate the missing crew. She also has more on Borizus.

The launch felt exciting. Then the rope break was a gut punch. Kim had just started to have fun up there. Torres ignoring the comms to chase the signal fit her perfectly. She is not great at standing down.
