I finished Mosaic. Twenty-three chapters, a frame story in the Delta Quadrant, and decades of Kathryn Janeway’s life woven between them. This isn’t a plot-heavy Voyager adventure in the usual sense. It’s a character biography disguised as a Starfleet novel, written by the woman who helped create the show.

Down on the black sand beach, Tom Paris is doing the thing he used to be famous for: soaking up sun and trying not to start fights.

Golden gives us a haunted alien warship, a kid genius doing his best work under pressure, and a parallel Akerian storyline that shows defeat doesn’t make these people less dangerous.
